We developed and implemented two innovative IoT solutions that enhanced efficiency, reduced food waste, and improved food quality for restaurant owners across over 2,500 locations, increasing production capacity without expanding kitchen size.

Challenge

Our client wanted to help restaurant owners improve quality, track food waste and improve their food output without a corresponding increase in kitchen size. Experient was tasked with designing and implementing an innovative IoT solution that would increase efficiency and decrease food waste.

Approach

Experient partnered with the client to build, implement, support, and enhance two innovative IoT solutions that are now in 2,500+ locations:

  • A tool that measures and automates the tracking of timing and volume of product in the pan to increase quality and reduce waste.
  • A system that integrates with a predictive modeling algorithm to provide forecast data to the kitchen staff and improve ability to accurately meet customer demand.

Value Delivered

By introducing an automated way to monitor all the food produced, operators can make data-driven purchasing decisions, improve their restaurant performance, and reduce food waste. In addition, the solutions increase restaurant production capacity without enlarging their kitchens. In short, less waste, greater efficiency, and a higher quality product.
